Meta Muse vs Meta AI: Clear Differences
Muse is the task-oriented personal agent; Meta AI is the existing assistant across Meta apps. Here is how the products differ in role, architecture and access.
Search results often mix Meta Muse and Meta AI. They are not the same product.
Meta AI
Meta AI is the assistant already present across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and other Meta surfaces. It answers questions, generates content and helps inside those apps. It is not marketed as a dedicated long-running agent with its own isolated cloud computer.
Meta Muse
Muse is the personal AI agent announced 8 September 2026. It is built to take multi-step tasks (email, bookings, forms, purchases with approval), run inside Muse Secure VM, use a browser, continue after the app is closed and ask for approval on sensitive actions. Access surfaces include the dedicated Muse app, muse.ai, WhatsApp and later a Mac app.
Model naming
Muse Spark is the model family powering the agent (reported as Muse Spark 1.3 at launch). It is not a separate consumer product. Muse Image is a separate generative image offering announced earlier in 2026.
Why the distinction matters
Conflating Muse with Meta AI leads to wrong expectations about task execution, pricing, Secure VM behaviour and regional availability. For product evaluation, start from Meta's Muse announcement and treat Meta AI documentation as a different product line.
